Genetec brings cloud-managed vehicle-centric investigation system to Australia and New Zealand

Company has also successfully completed Australian Federal Government IRAP assessment.

Genetec has launched of AutoVu Cloudrunner Australia and New Zealand.

AutoVu Cloudrunner is a cloud-based, vehicle-centric investigation system (VCIS) designed to detect, analyse and securely store highly accurate vehicle identification data to support public safety investigations.

Already available in North America for 18 months, Cloudrunner has been deployed in more than 75 cities empowering community-led policing initiatives and providing state and federal police forces, community associations and campus security teams with the ability to identify vehicles of interest involved in criminal activity – with real-time hotlist alerts and live monitoring capabilities.

“Cloudrunner will benefit local government agencies, law enforcement and businesses that require an innovative and flexible ALPR solution,” said George Moawad, Country Manager, Oceania, Genetec.

“With Cloudrunner, organisations will benefit from enhanced situational awareness and a more unified response to security challenges. No matter where a crime occurs, it can be addressed in real-time, collectively and efficiently.”

The system utilises vehicle data collected by Cloudrunner CR-H2 (CR-H2), a high-performance solar-powered automated license plate recognition (ALPR) camera that offers unmatched performance in all conditions.

Powered by AutoVu Machine Learning Core (MLC) – the company’s deep neural network-based vehicle recognition analytics engine – the CR-H2 camera goes beyond license plate recognition. It can identify vehicle type, make, model and colour, as well as behaviour analytics, so that investigators can narrow their search, even when there is no or only partial license plate information available. Additionally, Cloudrunner offers an interactive map that helps focus investigations and search within specific areas.

“Camera reads can be managed and securely shared between multiple parties while maintaining the chain of custody. Sensitive data is always protected,” said Moawad.

“All gathered data by users is processed and stored locally in Australia, with customers retaining full ownership and control of their data.”

Genetec has also confirmed the successful completion of the Australian Federal Government IRAP assessment, allowing the company to support Australian Government agencies and critical infrastructure providers with cloud-based physical security solutions.

The assessment found Genetec successfully demonstrated its robust cybersecurity posture and operational maturity, which also creates new business opportunities for Genetec-accredited channel partners in Australia. These partners can now provide government agencies with a trusted suite of physical security solutions designed to enhance situational awareness, improve decision-making, and bolster cyber defences.

“Undertaking an IRAP assessment to the OFFICIAL: Sensitive level reflects our ongoing commitment to meeting the security requirements set by the Australian Government,” said Moawad.

“We look forward to continuing to collaborate with government agencies, as well as our channel partners, to deliver cloud-based physical security solutions suited for complex environments.”

The IRAP assessment – involving a comprehensive review of product documentation, technical configurations and operational practices against the September 2024 version of the ISM – was conducted by CyberCX’s ACSC endorsed IRAP assessors.
