Infoblox has introduced the Infoblox Awards of Excellence, a new programme to recognise Infoblox customers for outstanding technical and management leadership. Three awards will be presented in May at Bloxfest, the first customer conference from Infoblox.

The Infoblox Awards of Excellence will be given to customers who have achieved measurable results in the application of DNS, DHCP, and IP address management (DDI) technologies; DNS security; network automation; or cloud/virtualisation initiatives, while optimising business results for their organisations.

Winners will receive a feature story on the Bloxfest web site, a case study from Infoblox, a crystal trophy, and a $1,000 charitable donation to a non-profit organisation of the winner’s choice.

“There’s an old joke that no one ever calls the IT department to say, ‘Thanks for not having an outage today.’ It’s only too true,” said Ashish Gupta, Chief Marketing Officer at Infoblox. “We at Infoblox are thankful for the honour of providing systems to thousands of customers worldwide, making their networks easier to operate, more efficient, and more secure. The Infoblox Awards of Excellence are intended to give long-overdue recognition for the incredible accomplishments of the front-line teams running and securing large networks around the world.”

At Bloxfest, Infoblox will also present a special award of appreciation to the company’s first customer: Clint Kaiser. In September 2000, Kaiser was the Director of Information Security at First Tech Federal Credit Union in the Portland, Oregon, area when he purchased the first Infoblox Domain Name System (DNS) appliance sold commercially, looking to replace First Tech’s homegrown internet DNS server running on a maintenance-intensive Windows NT server.

“I was searching online for DNS appliances when I discovered a company named Infoblox that I’d never heard of before,” recalled Kaiser, who now runs Security All-Stars, a cybersecurity consulting firm. “I decided to evaluate the Infoblox appliance alongside our existing DNS server for a period of time. The appliance worked right out of the box with minimal set-up time and the interface was a pleasure to work. Two weeks into the evaluation, our existing internet DNS server failed with an unrecoverable error. The Infoblox DNS appliance took over our Internet DNS service—and we never looked back. Our experience proved the value of using an appliance to run our DNS service, and I knew we’d made the right choice with Infoblox.”

Bloxfest (www.bloxfest.com), set for May 17 – 19 at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel in Boston, Massachusetts, will be a gathering of network infrastructure and security practitioners eager to learn and share best practices around DDI, as well as related topics such as security, cloud, and automation. Attendees will hear from their peers, partners, and Infoblox executives in daily keynotes, more than 35 track sessions featuring hands-on labs and technical discussions, and through many opportunities for informal mingling.
