Tenable and Siemens Energy expand collaboration on OT cybersecurity

CybersecurityTop Stories

Tenable OT Security has become the backbone of Siemens Energy’s new service offering, Omnivise OT Security, powered by Tenable.

The Exposure Management company, Tenable, has expanded its partnership with Siemens Energy to bolster cybersecurity in operational technology (OT) environments within the energy sector. Siemens Energy will integrate Tenable OT Security into its Omnivise T3000 control system as a Network Intrusion Detection System (NIDS).

This addition supplements the existing use of Tenable OT Security for asset discovery and vulnerability management. This move marks an extension of Siemens Energy and Tenable’s ongoing cooperation, notably in Siemens Energy’s recently rebranded service, Omnivise OT Security, which is also powered by Tenable.

Together, Tenable and Siemens Energy are merging cybersecurity and OT expertise to tackle a significant challenge in the energy sector: securing a constantly evolving asset base that spans both the digital and physical realms.

Energy sector workplaces typically feature a diverse range of equipment from multiple manufacturers, along with an ever-changing array of networked digital devices. Failure to keep pace with this constant influx of new devices and emerging cyberthreats could result in cybersecurity vulnerabilities and elevate risk in both the digital and physical systems that generate and distribute electricity and fuel.

“Siemens Energy brings Deep Learning to cybersecurity challenges and has emerged as a leader in securing energy workplaces,” said Marty Edwards, Deputy CTO for OT/IoT at Tenable. “We are particularly honored that Siemens Energy has chosen Tenable OT Security as the optimal solution set for not only their expanded service offerings but also to integrate into their industry-leading control systems.”
