GetGo drives growth and gains full visibility through Datadog to power seamless mobility

Singapore-based carsharing provider GetGo has turned to Datadog to address the challenges of monitoring its growing cloud-native platform, reducing bug investigation times and improving visibility into the customer experience.

Datadog, a provider of AI-powered observability and security for cloud applications, has announced that point-to-point carsharing service GetGo has achieved full-stack observability and improved engineering productivity using the Datadog platform. Since deployment, GetGo has unified monitoring across its platform, accelerated issue detection and resolution and gained greater visibility into mobile user experiences.

Headquartered in Singapore, GetGo is the nation’s largest carsharing service, providing 24/7 access to more than 3,000 vehicles across 1,700 locations through its mobile app. Built on a cloud-native, event-driven microservices architecture on AWS, the platform supports native iOS and Android apps and serves a growing user base. As GetGo scaled and expanded its ambitions into new markets, the complexity of its distributed environment increased, creating a need for real-time observability across its platform.

Prior to Datadog, GetGo’s monitoring tools were fragmented and struggled to keep pace with its distributed system. Without a unified platform, engineering teams needed to manually correlate issues across services, contributing to slower root cause analysis and increased operational overhead. The lack of real-time visibility into mobile user sessions and behavioural patterns also made it more difficult to diagnose issues affecting the customer experience.

“As a company built on delivering seamless, on-demand mobility, blind spots have a direct impact on user trust and retention,” said Kirivarnan Kumarasamy, Director of Engineering at GetGo. “Datadog brought our entire platform into view and enabled our teams to move from reactive troubleshooting to proactive, confident engineering.”

Datadog’s multi-language SDK support enabled implementation across GetGo’s technology stack. GetGo consolidated Datadog’s capabilities, including Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Real User Monitoring (RUM), Infrastructure Monitoring, Dashboards, Log Management, Sensitive Data Scanner and Software Composition Analysis, into a single platform. This reduced context switching for engineers, while RUM provided visibility into mobile application behaviour.

“Datadog has fundamentally changed how our teams operate. Every engineering team now relies on it as the backbone of their monitoring, troubleshooting and reliability operations,” said Kumarasamy . “We can detect and resolve incidents before they significantly impact customers, giving our engineers the confidence to move quickly without compromising reliability and supporting both our day-to-day performance and longer-term ambitions.”

According to GetGo, Datadog has helped reduce bug investigation time, which previously took several hours, by 50-60%, allowing engineers to dedicate more time to feature development and innovation. GetGo also reported that Datadog’s alerting and monitoring capabilities reduced mean time to detection (MTTD) and mean time to resolution (MTTR) by an average of 30-40%.

Datadog’s RUM has also provided GetGo with greater visibility into the mobile experience. Teams can monitor user sessions, track journeys, analyse behavioural patterns and identify issues that previously went undetected. This has supported faster responses to user issues and a more consistent experience for customers.

“The rich metrics and insights generated through the Datadog platform allows our teams and leadership to make more informed decisions about performance optimisations, scaling and future investments,” said Kumarasamy.“We went from reacting to problems to engineering ahead of them and Datadog made that possible. The confidence that full visibility into our platform provides is what will help us scale and expand into new markets.”

Looking ahead, GetGo is exploring AI-augmented and agentic capabilities, including Datadog’s Bits AI SRE and Cloud SIEM for intelligent log analysis, monitoring and security. These capabilities are intended to support engineering productivity, personalised platform experiences and expansion beyond Singapore.

“As carsharing becomes an increasingly critical part of urban mobility infrastructure, the stakes for platform reliability have never been higher. GetGo’s ability to scale confidently and expand into new markets rests on having complete and unified visibility into every layer of its technology stack,” said Adrian Towsey, Vice President of Commercial Sales for Asia-Pacific and Japan at Datadog. “With that foundation now in place, GetGo teams can dedicate more time to building and innovation, while upholding the seamless mobility experience customers depend on.”
